Contemporary Art Platform Kuwait

This 'art museum' is in the Life Center in Shuwaikh featuring an art exhibit by Ramon Aular, a Venezuelan artist and some other paintings by local Kuwaiti artists but that exhibit was closed.

-Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) is a non-profit private organization dedicated to developing and supporting the arts in Kuwait and throughout the region. CAP is one of the largest exhibition spaces in the region and since its founding in 2011 by art collector Amer Huneidi. The gallery space has presented exhibitions of established and international artists, as well as emerging and local artists through collective, thematic shows mainly curated by Arab and international curators.

CAP’s mission is equally committed to its extensive education program which offers a variety of opportunities to the community. Workshops are held regularly in the Studio Space, where youth and children are invited to learn from local and visiting artists. Artist talks and panel discussions are presented in conjunction with exhibitions, exhibition tours are offered to school groups and film screenings are shown twice a month. CAP’s library holds over two thousand titles and is the largest public art book library in Kuwait. These resources have positively impacted local contemporary art appreciation and understanding. As the only institution of its kind, CAP has played a principal role in establishing Kuwait as a contributor to the global art world and fostering the next generation of art lovers in the region.-

Life Center in Shuwaikh

i don't go out much any more because of traffic and parking problems but I had to be out in the area with the girls and they suggested coffee in Shuwaikh. We ended up at this Life Center Mall right on front of the residency Ministry that is now under reconstruction. I've passed by several times before but never realized it was a mall.

I really loved the greenery and the light wood design, it gave it a clean and bright feeling to the place. There is an art gallery, Eureka, Metal Fusion and some little high class furniture shops inside. I will do individual posts for the art gallery and book store.

Prime & Toast

I have to admit I'm not one for trying non name brand restaurants because I know I won't enjoy it. The other night everyone was hungry, I suggested McDonald's but the younger crowd suggested Prime & Toast. I already know that it's one of those fufu Kuwaiti restaurants that overcharge but I went along with it. First of all, I really don't understand the name, the restaurant was cute and decorated nicely.

I went through the menu 50 times as I didn't find anything interesting and the prices were high for the generic items they had. I settled for shakshooka because of the low car diet I'm on, I regretted it later on.

They give you a menu with blank pages for drawing and then pick some out to have printed on the paper place mats on the table which is a cool idea.

Rocca salad with bacon and pine nuts: 4/5
Eggs Benedict: 2/5 the eggs were on top of frozen hash brown patties filled with grease and topped with crispy things on top with a tiny bit of sauce, had to ask for more and when the waiter came back he was like 'there's sauce on it already' well not enough for our liking ok.
Hamburger: 4/5 that was an awesome burger
Shakshooka: 2/5  Egg whites looked like snot and the egg yolks were cooked even though they were supposed to be runny, the sauce was overly sweet. I sent it back and I don't know what they did but I just ate it.
Waffles: 4/5 the youngster was happy with it.

We also ordered pumpkin which was some weird grey color and sent them back, fried beat thingies that were pretty good and tried to cancel some other order but of course they act like they didn't hear that and brought it anyways.

Most of the order was like this:

Do you have this item?
-No
Do you have this item?
-No
This one?
-No

The bill came out to almost 30 KD! The food was below average, the waiter acted like he was pissed every time we complained and it was just a bad experience all around. I definitely won't ever be back or recommend that place especially now when there are better restaurants to choose from.

If you can't pay it's OK

My friend swears this is the best place for kanafa, so we drive all the way to Mangaf to get it. The last time I was there I saw the sign below and thought wow, that's nice of them.

They do have good kanafa and I would buy from them to support their generosity.

Knock off non alcoholic Bailey's Irish Cream

This drink will have you reading the ingredients just to make sure there isn't any alcohol! It tastes just like the real thing, I prefer it over the rocks.

Desserts from The CheeZery

I received an assortment of mouth watering desserts from The CheeZery Bakery and they were amazing. We started off with the Pistachio Tres Leches dessert accompanied by a bottle of milk. The cake was moist and loaded with pistachios, there are different varieties of the Tres Leches cake as well.

We moved on the their CheeZery Jar desserts which included a saffron panacota, brownie with pretzels, tiramisu, Lotus and a few more. They're good when you want a smaller size dessert and you can put the top on and save the rest for later. I'm addicted to saffron so I was glad they sent me something saffron related.
The last dessert was a Ramadan date trifle made with a cream cheese frosting. I liked the date flavor as I don't see many desserts made with dates that are good but this one was amazing.

You can find them on most of the ordering apps such as Talabat or you can visit their IG @thecheezery, they are located in Al Ghawali Tower in Kuwait City and can be reached at 97779486. A special thanks to The CheeZery !
