Hamed Al Fuzia Museum

I came across the Instagram account of @hamedalfuzia and noticed he had a museum in his house full of items from old Kuwait after setting an appointment I made a to the museum. The museum is in the basement and is full of old items only seen in museums but in this museum you can get up close and personal with the items and listen to stories about them.

This collection of dhows were hand made by the father of the owner of the museum.

This section is in memory of the son and uncles who died during the invasion of Kuwait. The son and his friend were only 18 when they were kidnapped by Iraqi forces and later on murdered, the burial site of the son is still unknown.

The museum is open to the public, it's closed on Wednesdays, you can contact the owner on his Instagram account to make an appointment, it's located in Hateen/South Surra.

Old Kuwaiti houses

These houses are in Kuwait City, some still being occupied.

A little bit of paint and some elbow grease, these would look amazing.

Ramadan 2014

Ramadan will begin on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Remember no eating or drinking during daylight hours! Restaurants will open around 6:50 pm for the next month so be prepared!

Saveco Kuwait

I saw some advertisements for SaveCo on Instagram and wanted to see what the hype was about. I was in love with LuLu (Lu & Lu) but I think I found a new place to shop while I'm living on this side of Kuwait. SaveCo in Shuwaikh area is a clean, well stocked place to shop with prices being the same as LuLu but less crowded.

Makeup brushes for reasonable prices and brands from the states as well.

There are Renuzit air fresheners with gel balls that I could only find on Arifjan available too. Yay!
Pet section with all kinds of supplies
Let the kids to play for 1 KD an hour

Cute little café upstairs. I love this place but if anyone plans on visiting I would go early in the day when it's less crowded. There's a post about the Kuwaiti female CEO and information about their Food Academy classes.

Types of houses in Kuwait

I found some great big houses while cruising around Kuwait. Some of these houses are ridiculous in size and some have marble sculptures. I wonder how much it cost just to furnish them?
This project ran out of money or something, the signs were faded and no work was going on.
Check out their six foot marble lions
This one is still being built

This is definitely a different kind of Kuwaiti house
I had to throw in a picture of my favorite kind of driveway
Egyptian scarecrows

I didn't know scarecrows were used in Kuwait, it's not like they are growing crops.

Arab Media Forum - Old Kuwaiti House

I went to visit my favorite museum in Kuwait - Bait Al Othman in Hawally when I saw the door next to the museum opened, I peeked in to see an amazing refurbished Kuwaiti house which is used by the Arab Media Forum. Of course I just had to ask the ladies to take a look around and they were nice enough to let me take some pictures.

I can only imagine what it was like to live in a house like that, ok minus the electricity, water, and ShowTime but I would love to have a house like that today unfortunately everyone is into the 'modern' boxy grey and black houses -yuck.

The sea in the Kuwait Free Trade Zone

With the area being deserted the beach has been left alone. While some parts make for beautiful pictures the reality is another story.

The good:

There was so much garbage and dead sea creatures.

The bad:

And the random watermelon:

Attention beach volunteers, here's a neglected area that can use some help!
