Switching to .Com

I've had my .com domain for a while now but I'm not sure if switching is worth it. I know visually .blogpost.com isn't taken as seriously as a .com site. I've read that the traffic to my site will probably be non-existent until it gets going. Does anyone have any knowledge or opinion about switching to .com? I'm also looking into a redesign as well but I'm not a website creator and  really have no idea about IT. Any help is appreciated!

  1. No clue about web design (i think you can get templates or get designers online, but assuming it isnt cheap). As fp web traffic, You could either run the two concurrently for a while or just put a hyperlink at the top of this blog to redirect people to the new site.

  2. I'm IT expert, newly going to www world,I saw many sites changed from (.org) or what ever to (.com) just by making a virtual URL!!! ,just type .com and the browser will redirect you to .org site. A small trick but will do the job ;)
Contact your domain provider for this, really wanted to help you more...but this is as far as I know

  3. Thanks for the input, I know I have to copy the info from .com and input into my blogger domain thingy. Do you think .com is better looking than .blogpost. blah bla?

  5. I went from one .com to another.com a few years ago (changed the name of my blog, in turn, changing the name of the domain and web address). I made my last blog post on the former blog an announcement of sorts with a link to the new blog. I also activated a 'pointer' which would redirect all traffic from the previous domain to the current domain. I kept it activated for about a year until everyone eventually realized they were being redirected to a new domain.

I'm not one to check stats or number of hits (I've always just blogged for my own entertainment) so I can't tell you if there was a change in viewership.

  7. I did. I used both domains with a Wordpress blog. I didn't know how to set up the redirect pointer thingie, because I'm really not technically savvy at all. So I called Wordpress support and they did it for me in a matter of minutes. I was impressed.
